New Jersey’s Official Tall Ship, the A.J. MEERWALD, is returning to New York harbor. She is docking at Liberty State Park in Jersey City today and will be staying through July 6th. The Meerwald will be offering New York harbor sails and tours of the the authentically restored 1928 Delaware Bay oyster schooner. From their press release:
Enjoy a relaxing trip around New York Harbor, taking in the sights and sounds. Bring along a picnic to enjoy, or a bottle of wine to share with friends. Or experience history firsthand as you help the crew haul the lines and hoist the sails!
The MEERWALD will offer sails from Liberty State Park July 1-6 and July 11-17. On July 4th and the schooner will remain at the dock offering free tours and programs from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; and on July 16 the ship will take part in the ‘City of Water Day’ Festival.
The ship will dock at the southern end of LSP. Park in the lot nearest the US Flag Plaza at the end of Morris Pesin Drive. Sails traverse the Upper Bay from Liberty Island to the Battery and Brooklyn Bridge.

Monday, July 4: No sails. Free deck tours and dockside programs from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Wednesday, July 6: ‘Sailor for a Day’ camp for 10-16 year olds, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
