Just a few miles from the gleaming glass towers of lower Manhattan is the old Witte yard, a graveyard of ships, a little known, slightly surreal assemblage of ghostly remains along the waterway known as Arthur Kill. Gary Kane and Will Van Dorp have produced a documentary about this strange and special place.
rick– thanks for the plug. it IS a strange and special place as well as a devloving one.
Thank you for the fascinating view that we seldom gaze upon. Places like Arthur Kill have always been a part maritime commerce. These old boneyards of shipping are all over the world. I live on the west coast now a days and wish I had known about Arthur Kill 10 years ago. I would love to explore the place myself.
