The 27th Annual Great North River Tugboat Race, sponsored by the Working Harbor Committee, will be held on the Hudson River near Pier 84 starting at 11 a.m. on September 1st. Watch from shore or get onboard the Spectator Boat and see the whole event up-close. Boarding begins at 10:15 am, departure is at 10:30 am from Pier 83. Tickets for the Spectator Boat cost $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and $12 for kids, 3-12. Click here to buy tickets.
The festivities begin at 11:15 am with a Parade of Tugs from Pier 84, located at W. 44th Street & Hudson River Park, to the start line @ Pier l @ W. 70th St. in Riverside Park. The Tugboat Race starts at 11:30 am from Pier l down to Pier 84.
Following the race, at noon, there will be on-the-water tug nose-to-nose pushing contests & line-toss competitions. Kids’ activities will continue at 1pm, followed by an Awards Ceremony at 2 pm. The tugs depart by 3 pm.
