The free online training course is designed to provide those with little or no experience in traditional sail an introduction to the terminology and concepts of a square-rigged sailing ship.
The U.S. Brig Niagara based in Erie Pa is the platform used to introduce concepts about how it is rigged and the procedures of sailing the vessel. Topics will include rigging, sails, sailing maneuvers, knots used on board, and more.
This course is free and open to anyone interested in participating. The course will be conducted online through Zoom, Wednesdays at 6pm EST with 6 sessions. Registration is required. February 3rd – March 10th, 2021.
Thanks…this sounds very interesting, and I would like to try to attend…but 6 PM is not really a good time…as we have just finished work, come home, getting ready for 7 PM dinner, etc., etc. I suspect others might have the same reactions.
Are there other times available…?
